Verdict for Whistle own the Wind 1st review 1998 preview
Music :|
But the CD, 'Whistle Down the Wind', by various artists is a really good buy. Especially 'The Vaults of Heaven' by Tom Jones, Tina Arena's fantastic and underrated version of 'Whistle down the wind' (see her also on tape - Andrew Lloyd Webber The Royal Albert Hall Celebration and Michael Ball's version of 'The Vaults of Heaven') and of course, Boyz Zone with 'No matter what'. Pity Miss Paige was not given a better song to strut her stuff.
Story :(
The story might have worked, like in the year 5 AD, but as we are approaching the millennium, it's really not very convincing.
Singing :|
However , 'Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts' (as long as it's not Ms Tyler's version.) had me tapping my toes. Dean Clooinson and Veronica Hart stole the show in this number.
Production/Scenery :|
If you haven't seen any of Andrew Lloyd Webber's shows before, it's a bit of an eye opener. But as the stage was nick'ed from "Sunset Boulevard"..........been there, seen it, and done that.............
Dancing :)

Glenn Carter will be taking over the role of 'The Man' in May, hope this change will bring a new life to the show.

Verdict for 'Whistle down the Wind' 2nd review May 1999
Music :)
After listening to the tunes by various artists like Tom Jones, Michael Ball, Tina Arena... the music sounds more familiar now.
Story :)
More believable with the change of cast. Sometimes, I wish producers would bank on new blood, rather than getting actors from abroad that don't do a thing for the show. If only 'Whistle Down the Wind' had started with this cast, it could have been Andrew Llyod Webber's best musical since Phantom. But I doubt it, because 'Sunset Boulevard' should have been the best musical since Phantom.
Singing :)
Glenn's singing is absolutely A's.
Production/Scenery :|
I missed the train scene last time. It was amazing.
Costume :|
Country folk, what do you expect.
Sound :)
Acting :) :)
Laura-Michellw Kelly as the believable teenager - Swallow.
Glenn Carter is 'The Man' now. It is amazing that Glenn can play such a gentle Jesus Christ in 'Jesus Christ Superstar' at the Lyceum and yet be so convincing and evil as 'The Man' in Whistle Down the Wind, I call that versatile.
