Verdict for Tess of the D'Urberville

Acting :) :) :)

Great acting by all three main cast members.

Costume :) :)

Someone get Tess's wig sorted before opening night.

Dancing :)

The dances were cleverly woven into the story.

Music :|

Bearable.

Production :) :)

Directed by Karen Louise Hebden. No matter how brillant a direction is, the story still sucks.

Scenery :) :)

Great use of a backdrop, very effective, it gave the story a bit of colour and life.

Singing :) :)

Philippa sang right through the whole production, very commendable, especially with all those difficult sharps and flats.

Alec did not get the chance to stretch his vocal chords till the second act. It was a pleasant surprise, what a voice!

Sound :)

Story :(

This musical has just about everything to make a hit. A good cast, good choreography, scenery, but it just missed the mark with a rather lame story and no memorable songs..
