Joanna Ampil

Joanna, who comes from Manila, Philippines, started singing at the age of six. At seventeen, she began her acting career when she was chosen to play the lead role of Kim in Miss Saigon as her West End debut. Later on, she was invited by Sir Cameron Mackintosh to play the role of Kim in the Australian premiere of Miss Saigon, where she received rave reviews and earned her an Australian Mo award nomination for the Best female musical theater performer.

She came back to London in 1996 for the successful premiere of the London new production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Lyceum Theater as part of the original cast playing the female lead role of Mary Magdalene.

Prior to this, she also had the chance to play the part of Eliza Doolittle in the Tribute to My Fair Lady/Miss Saigon's 2282 performance at the London's Theater Royal Drury Lane.

Recently, she appeared as Eponine and Kim for Sir Cameron Mackintosh's Showcase for Asta in Glasgow at the Scottish Exhibition Center.

Also appeared in galas, participated in fashion shows and has done numerous concerts, guestings and presentation in TV and radio both in Europe and Australia.

Joanna is privileged to have chosen from all over the world to sing the role of Kim in the complete International Symphonic Recording of Miss Saigon.She also recorded the role of Mary Magalene in Lord Andrew Llyod Webber's new recording of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Joanna would like to thank her coaches, friends, families and loved ones for their unending support and prayers especially the Lord Jesus Christ to whom she dedicates all her performances.

Joanna is currently in HAIR.
